Looking for Social Distancing Signage?
Businesses and workplaces are beginning to prepare for the return of workers to a COVID safe working environment. The pandemic has been a WorkSafe issue and all businesses and companies need to comply with COVID protocols before going back to work.
Knowing the protocols is essential so we can prevent the spread of COVID-19 to other people, especially your family and avoid penalties.
In this article, we have put up a list of things to consider to keep your staff and customers safe by implementing hygiene and physical distancing in the workplace.
Face Masks
Employers need to make sure that their employees are wearing face masks while at work. If you’re driving your vehicle to work, you don’t need to wear a face mask. Every time you leave your car or you need to interact with other people, you should wear a face mask.
Also, if you are traveling with other people outside your household, including people from your work, you should wear a face mask. Face mask supplies for businesses are available in Australia through retail and wholesale channels.
Physical distancing
Employers should ensure physical distancing at least 1.5 meters to reduce close person-to-person contact for staff and clients. If possible, employees must work from home. If it’s impossible to work from home, employers should implement physical distancing of at least 1.5 meters or use protective shields to prevent transmission.
If possible, employers should have a workplace plan to designate specific doorways as exit and entry-only doorways to keep people in the workplace walking in the right direction. Indoor meetings and lunchrooms should also be avoided and encourage online meetings. Workplaces that are accessible to the public should comply with density quotient and signage requirements.
Signage
If your workplace has areas that are accessible to the public, make sure to have the appropriate signage, sanitising units, and protection screens to protect the health of your staff and customers, to promote a COVID safe workplace.

Cleaning and sanitation
Cleaning alone does not kill germs and viruses on surfaces. Surfaces need to be cleaned by wiping dirt and stains off surfaces by using common household detergent products. Disinfecting surfaces means using chemicals to kill germs. Disinfectants are found in supermarkets and you need to follow its instructions before using them.
High-touch surfaces such as doorknobs, work stations should be cleaned frequently, at least twice or three times, as it can transmit germs and viruses.
